Any windshield 30 years old will have some road grit etching and dings as well as streaks from the wipers that impair night vision, particularly in wet weather. The older the driver, the more problematic this is! ;-) Also, many have white edges, which is from the plastic sheet laminated between the glass oxidizing. Cosmetic problem, but ugly. If you have a very low mileage van it can still be serviceable though, but most of us don't. Stuart
