The ones we sell are the same ones VW Bus Shop in Germany sells - OEM German seals that are the same as the originals. We've sold them for decades with no issues with fit or quality. In fact, while there are some cheaper aftermarket Vanagon seals out there, I have yet to see a non-OEM version of the vent wing seal, so to the best of my knowledge this would have been the same seal no matter where you bought it. Therefore, I hate to say it but I have to agree with Frank that this sounds like an installation issue and/or something else relating to the vent wings that is out of spec. I can't think of any other explanation..
