Painting eh? Well, I'd wait until you come back from driving the Ice Road! And then you should remove all those nice new windows and seals too for painting. ;-)

I just completed replacing all the seals and scrapers around the passenger and driver windows on my '88 vanogon. They were pitiful and past due for change out. Though I have the genuine German-made triangle glass seals, I chose not to attempt them at this time. Weather forecast calls for rain and I don't have a place to get out of the weather once it starts. So I followed the instructions and procedeure in the Go-Westy youtube video on how-to. The noise level dropped noticeably. Additionally, I installed two new rain shields that fit above the windows so you can drive with the windows slightly open yet not get water inside. Clear smokey color. Inherited from Uncle Joel. Also from him, I installed two new trim strips, one right, one left, that fit the body just in front of the front doors. Don't know if that affects wind noise or not, but it sure looks nicer.

New discs, calipers, and pads, new water pump, new oil cooler seal, new water pump and oil cooler related hoses, stainless coolant distributor tower, new thermostat tower, new engine harness, new ECU, recently refurbished injectors, resealed oil pump, recent fuel hoses. New foot pedal and floor repair at the pedal where it rusted out. New distributor and hall sender. I'm slowly getting ahead of it instead of being behind the power curve.

On the agenda for the future, soon to begin: rear brakes (on hand), shifter mechanizem - front to rear, reseal gas tank,(kit on hand) replace hoses and lines underneath. Replace rear heater core, refurbish windshield washer tanks, replace sliding windows (with new) and new seals. Install sound deadening.

At some point I HOPE to install larger wheels and put on a big brake kit, front and rear.

After that - PAINT!
