I kinda specialize in rust treatment....very rewarding to stop, or sometimes only delay it getting worse, metal cancer.

on the windshield rubber....and not at the point of doing a proper windshie ld removal yet, for sure probe abound under the rubber seal, like with a sharp metal pick. If you're lucky ..like when you see a paint bubble...the metal is still intact under there... that's not hard to deal with.

If there is a hole clear through the metal....bummer, and all you can do is get all the flaky rusty stuff out as best you can. Brush it out, suck it out, blow it out... Q-tips dipped in Osphro is on good way.

Then treat what metal there is with Ospho or some good metal prep. The stuff that says 'makes rust into hard primer.'

there are spray and liquid versions. The liquid always seems to work better to me. Brush it on. If there is a hole, fill that will Marine Tex . Then when that's cured, primer the area with a really good metal primer paint. I like Zero Rust brand quite a lot. then finally ..touch it up with proper touch-up paint in your van's color.

The touch-up paints I use in a small bottle with a brush are acrylic enamels .. They dry very hard ...and take Lacquer thinner ( not paint thinner ) for clean up or rejuvenating and old bottle of touch-up paint.

of course..the sooner ANY evidence of rust is noticed and treated, the better. Get 'em while they're small. Real easy to deal with then.
