Questions:

Did the oil come gushing out of the drain plug or out of the fill plug on the side? I don't think there is a drain plug on an AT differential.

When you say the engine oil is half gone, do you mean half way down from "full" to "low"? Did you top it up carefully, after running it to fill the oil filter?

How do you think that engine oil would get into the differential? Doesn't seem possible to me.
