Well, that’s just not true at all ! I have replaced many vent window seals with new ones from Germany, the ones with no groove for the chrome trim, as that’s all that’s available these days. Yes, it’s a bit of a project and most likely you will find the frame needs work as it will be rusted under the rubber, so now’s the time to do it right. Once the fame has been refurbished and the new rubber seal installed correctly and the vent window installed correctly with the rotating pin lubricated and tension properly adjusted on it, the vent windows can work and seal properly with no whistling.
