Well, Frank, you can hardly state as fact that my personal experience is not true at all. There's the implication that I didn't actually install them correctly, but that's not true at all. There was little to no rust on the frame of my wind wings. I cleaned them thoroughly after removing the old ones. I cleaned up all the parts and lubricated parts that appeared to need lubricating. The glass simply did not fit the rubber correctly once the metal parts were attached. I am not alone in having had this experience either, but I'll leave to others to speak for themselves should they choose to do so. I am speaking from my personal experience, which is what it is. I installed everything correctly. I cleaned and lubed correctly. The fit is simply not good. Your experience may be different than mine and I'm happy for you if that's the case. My experience was miserable and my wind wings still whistle. But they do look good . . . Marc

I have replaced many vent window seals with new ones from Germany, the ones with no groove for the chrome trim, as that’s all that’s available these days. Yes, it’s a bit of a project and most likely you will find the frame needs work as it will be rusted under the rubber, so now’s the time to do it right. Once the fame has been refurbished and the new rubber seal installed correctly and the vent window installed correctly with the rotating pin lubricated and tension properly adjusted on it, the vent windows can work and seal properly with no whistling. > > >> On Apr 9, 2016, at 8:02 PM, Automatic digest processor <LISTSERV@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> wrote: >> >> In hindsight, I'd skip replacing the vent window seals.
