Could be that you got a bad tank or somehow enough debris got in there to clog the inlet screen on the new tank. Suffered that last year 6 fuel pump later replaced the tank again and problem solved. Talk about shop losing shirt! With the next one I used a coat hanger and rammed the inlet screen open. Lots of metal debris from cutting-stamping.
Try for now replacing the filter before the pump if you are still using it. As the engine runs with the fuel recirculation it will pick up some engine hat and warm the fuel in the tank. This raises the vapor pressure and if there is any restriction between the fuel and pump the pump suction will make the warm fuel vaporize and starve the pump. Vapor lock. his is why the before pump filter was eliminated.
