You can find used ones on The Samba for $75-$100, but they will all fail sooner or later. These are often left off their wall brackets (or mounted upside down) in the right rear corner behind the right taillight and the air filter intake where they get wet. Also, old electrolytic capacitors in these fail after 30 years. Rebuilt units have replaced these capacitors with modern types and are sealed.

Well I unplugged the Idle control valve and my rpms dropped to about 900, and I've been able to drive without incident. Clamping the S house didn't have any effect though, I thought that it should have helped if the ICV was the culprit?
