The radiator does get hot, it’s fairly new too. Thanks for the other suggestions, I will check these out.

Is the radiator getting hot? That is the first step. Next you need to do some trouble shooting. On the early water cooled vans the common failure point is the fan switch as it switches the full current load of the fan motor for the low speed. The next common failure is the power/control fuse and the fuse box-wiring itself. As simple test unplug the connector to the fan switch. Check for power between the one end terminal and the chassis. Jumping the two outer connections should give you high speed. The power and center will give you low speed. If you have a bad radiator (internal cracks or plugged) the fan switch may never see the hot coolant to know to turn the fan on. Same with a bad t-stat or other flow issue.

The archives is erroring out so I’m posting here.

The front fan on my ’83.5 is not coming on. I’ve got the system totally bled and I know the radiator is full. What are the troubleshooting steps for the fan?
