A fuel pressure gague is SO handy in cases like this.
I often just leave it connected during the entire diagnosis process,
especially if things are weird and inconsistent.
( I've seen a case where fuel pressure if fine ..but then ...driving
down the road ....it goes south. )
30 bucks at HF for a fuel pressure gauge.
Heck, now that you're into considering fuel and fuel delivery/pressure,
if you haven’t for a while,
I suggest remove fuel filter, empty it out backwards on a clean dish and
see what's in it.
I had a case not that long ago ...starting and running, just fine ..
drive 50 feet shut it off, an hour would crank fine but not fire up.
that one turned out to be water in the fuel, and it's easy to spot mixed
with gas when you do the fuel filter contents inspection.
Sometimes you even find a bunch of rust in there too. Water in the fuel
can defenitely be ..'ok sometimes, not ok other times for no apparent
reason."
