Thanks for that Alistair. I'll check these GW shoes against a new drum.
More out curiosity than anything. I found the Samba forum 1000 page
long debate on shimming the lower anchors and shoe radius or arcing
informative but
admittedly, I still have trouble *fully* understanding how one would
determine if that's
required. Do folks mark the new shoes, install, test wear pattern then
determine if shims
are needed? I'd think one could measure for that. Another topic I'm sure.
On the GW shoes, I noted that the adjuster lever *seems* a little
thin, and that part does
see some "action", as I'm sure you know. There's a spring pulling down
on it and
the adjuster bar butts up against it. i.e. On the shoes currently
installed, I noted a minor (normal I'm sure) mark at the adjuster bar
where this lever sits.
That adjuster lever failure might just be a freak thing in your case
but it certainly speaks to keeping an eye on things eh?
I'll have a close look at my new GW shoes before installing them.
On the currently installed shoes, it's interesting to me
that one e-brake lever pivot point wore so much (or was loose when new)
