I was able to source some Continental 5/16 (7.9mm) Fuel Injection Hose SAE J309R Made in EU. Locally in Ottawa, CDN it was cheaper to purchase a complete spool of 25 feet than just purchasing 5m of line.

My question is regarding the grey original abrasion control covers that were over the original VW fuel injection lines. Is there any need to have the original grey abrasion control covers over this Fuel Injector (FI) line, or can they be omitted?
