I called it the "final drive", it's also called the transaxle, or the differential. It is a separate entity from the "transmission", although they are often referred to as a unit. They are collectively called the transmission when this is done, which leads to misunderstandings. Especially among we ignorants. But I can't say which usage is reflected in your response. If I'm going to take the final drive off anyway, there's no real point to leaving the torque converter on. I want to leave the torque converter AND the final drive on the engine. I imagine that would save me extra effort. But I don't know that it can be done. Hoping for a free clue, and thanks for the help!
