So the clunk from the back wheel. I brought the van in today, and they were good enough to put it on the lift right at 1pm. Checked the back brakes. They were good. Ended up removing, greasing, and reverse -reinstalling axles. The cheap solution. He had a a pair of newly repainted, rebuilt axles and CVs. They looked nice, but it was $550 for them installed. No more noise. We tired it on several hills. Uwe also oiled and relaxed the spring tension on my shifter push-down. Oiled it... works so well now. And he adjusted the idle, which was failing to go all the way back. The rig is running great. New tires. I should be hitting the road tomorrow ! Montreal - Port Stanley Ont. Then on down to the midwest USA, head for I-70, take highway 50 when we can pick it up. All the way to Virginia City NV and onto reno. See y'all out there on the road! vinnie On Thu, May 26, 2016 at 2:25 PM, Neil N <musomuso@gmail.com> wrote: > I can't recall if it's noted as procedure in the Bentley, but some shops > take off the big axle stub nut to service the brakes. > > Is there excessive push/pull play at the wheel in question? > > > > On 5/25/16, Vincent Dow <ianvincentdow@gmail.com> wrote: > > > Since last summer I've been experiencing a puzzling, intermittent clunk > > from the driver's side rear. > > > > I had the rear brakes serviced by a shop in L.A.
