Funny what I see in images and not "in person". Yes. That does look like the drum is rubbing a little on the backing plate. I knew the drum was contacting the plug but..... Humph. Well..... I'll see if I can't find out what brand drums I was sold. I can measure them against other pairs I have. I didn't hear any metal on metal sound though. Not to harp on this, but that shoe fit issue was driving me bonkers. I sure hope I've solved it.
