well, my rear drums should be REALLY REALLY good.
They've been gone over by three different shops.
After I had the rears done by Jomags in L.A. last summer, I started getting
that clunk in Indiana. But we made it back to montreal, and my preferred
garage here too it apart and found that the adjuster was backwards, and it
had been dragging the whole 3,000 miles. Also, the fork connection of the
adjuster was not joined, but instead ... (how can I explain this?) the fork
was resting against its tips.
The clunking kept coming back, so i brought it to Uwe falkenberg, who did
my tranny two years ago. He's a German, started working on VW vans in the
70s. He found yet more faults with the reassembly from the 2nd shop. He
reassembled them and said he got it right.
My shoes and drums and bearings are brand new back there. Brand new + 3,000
miles.
