Mark, glad you got back on the road. That damage is so strange to me. I was thinking the freeze and bust thing too, since I have seen so many Vanagons with overheat and never seen one that has the kind of damage you experienced. I don't know if you do this or not, but to be sure someone else isn't "borrowing" the van when you are back in the USA, you might want to write down your mileage before you leave and then compare it to when you get back. I know they could just unhook the speedo cable but it is worth a try. There might be a reason behind why the storage guys were being so nice. The van may have a tale that it could tell if only it could talk. Hopefully I am wrong about this, but the damage is really baffling me. Hope you folks enjoy the rest of your trip.

Ken
