Volkwagon-Turning Drivers Into Mechanics for Over 50 years! I didn't make that up. In fact saw it on a bumper sticker.

Seriously if you thought a 30 year old vehicle or a Vanagon was a low operating cost endeavor you didn’t do your homework.

From experience most folks that do their own auto trans work for the first time will do it once or twice more in the next year. Get yourself a good jack, stands, and a transmission jack such as this one.
