Last evening as I was hurrying the Hyena along (125kph) to a dinner appointment (we were late) the odometer decided it was tired (at only 218,799 kms) and it now sounds like theres a gear slipping internally. The trip meter is still running fine. The three rightmost digits have recessed back into the odometer body, so I suspect the shaft has slid out of the gear. I dislike taking that brittle plastic apart, but it is time to fix the odometer. In the event I get in there and it is more serious than just the shaft sliding out of place, what are the differences between the Jetta/Golf MKI or MKII odometer and the one from the T25? From the front, they look identical. I have an old MkI speedometer/odometer and wanted to know if I can raid it for parts (speedometer needle is broken or I would try swapping it in). Roy |
