Subject: forward clutch assembly end-play
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

Bentley says to check that "play (arrow) is between 0.5-0.9mm. If NO, select new pressure plate from table." (p. 38.18, 090 AT)

My first question is about that end play. Is the top of the pressure plate that distance below the wavy circlip that holds it in place when the forward clutch assembly is installed and the circlip in place?

Next is about the friction plates I received. There are two groups with different thicknesses that are otherwise the same. Am I supposed to swap these around to get the required end-play? That's what I've been doing. I mean, I don't have, and I don't think anyone has pressure plates of varying thicknesses lying around so this is the only way I can imagine getting that right.

I started off using the thicker ones, and couldn't get the circlip to seat. Swapping two f-plates out lets me get the circlip seated, but the steels and f-plates are bound and don't move... that's not the way it should be, right?
