The ECU controls the negative ground side of the fuel pump relay at terminal #85.However, the only load that the #87 ECU relay supplies is to the ECU, to the power steering pressure switch, and the Idle Stabilizer Control Unit. The fuel pump relay #86 and the ECU relay #86 is a bridged connection, a wire connects them so that when the key is turned on, the ECU and the fuel pump are both switched on, though the ecu then only activates the fuel pump momentarily to pressurize the fuel rails.86 is a key-on power connection, and 87 is a load connection only .87 is not used to send power to 86. ECU relay 87 sends positive to fuel pump 86 via a main positive connection in harness. (G1 or 26). Indeed when ECU relay is energized, it sends positive to fuel pump 86. Neil.
