I'd suggest that Mk1 speedo may be useful for parts but it may well have a different "ratio".

IIRC, one can install an easily made bracket to keep things in place. I did this on one of my Vanagon speedometers Image http://tinyurl.com/hdqsnow idea was "stolen" from Chris "Tencentlife" Corkin. ;)

Don't forget to pre load the speedo needle.
