Dave,

I live in Phoenix.

I can't speak for your Golf engine, but for the waterboxer, the fan runs only at stop signs and in slow traffic. Thus, I think that you would do just fine driving to Phoenix if you don't use your air conditioning.

That said, it is expected to be 117 degrees in Phoenix tomorrow. If I were you, I'd plan my trip to arrive at Affordable German well before 9AM when they open since you won't have AC and are not used to the heat like us natives. And, be sure of your route to Affordable German so you won't have to drive around looking for the place. Your overheating problems, if there are any, will be on the Phoenix city streets. If the coolant gets too hot, just stop and let things cool off for a while.

Stay out of the sun and have an adventure!

Mike

Hi There' Almost forgot. The road tripper, otherwise known as the bus, is a 1987 Westfalia with in-line Golf engine. I hate it when people ask questions and don't tell you what they're driving.
