That's best asked to a body pro but my guess is depends on how much exposure the tech has to it given the work performed. Since it's on the inside wall if the damage is so extensive as to need to reach that point with tools then my guess is they'd normally replace the panel or section. Of course, Vanagons aren't always treated the same way as newer metal bodies since the parts are so coveted. When I owned Ducky and SaVannah I made a trip to the various LKQs in Portland monthly to harvest parts. Now? They just shook their heads and said 'nada'.

Although I wouldn't sweat it much I definitely would as one or three techs their opinions since labor is so expensive when it involves skill.
