Yep, the fellow who did the welding got the message but he didn't heed. In my box of too good to toss, I found an exhaust hanger that has two large pivot points in the strap....So I swapped the normal type for that, leaving it in a "z" configuration....no tension no noise transfer, but if the stock diesel exhaust brackets should fail it won't destroy the whole system, and it won't bounce into a following windshield. The fellow who bent and fabbed my exhaust....He couldn't be talked out of welding a hanger (with a rubber isolation block) into the original system....... I had a really noisy van till I got that off....easier to not argue with an "expert" who'd never worked a Vanagon, then cut it off when I got home, but that was a LOUD drive from Bend
