Hi,
not likely to happen on exhaust stroke, but compression stroke for sure.
The pressure developed there is super high ...numerous hundreds of psi
I'd think.
lol....IMO 'usually' VW Vans get a new engine every 7 years ..
tho there are countless exceptions to that in Vanagons.
also, traditionally, lots of 'back yard' work on VW's ...not all of it
is done properly.
don't get me started on how poor most invoices are !
here's what is one a decent invoice...
# 1....The issues that were addressed, and what action taken
...'replace' , 'adjust. inspect, lubricate, etc. ( when I worked on
avionics in the AF we had to document all jobs thoroughly ..
and ...interestingly, then all started with Write-ups and symptoms the
pilot noted.
we had a list of 3 digit codes, like 200 of them , and had to enter
them on a form for each repair. I still remember some of them..
first was the 'how malfunctioned' code....135 was 'binding stuck or
jammed' ..
then on the Repair Action code ..we had scads or those ..'reset',
replace, align, and on and on.
I good shop will document in writing EXACTLY what they did ..tho I'm
sure most don't.
Like 'tune up' doesn't mean much ..
replaced cap and rotor, inspected air filter and spark plugs, and
checked timing, etc...that means something useful.
# 2 ..parts installed
# 3 ..."Notes' ...everything that was noticed but not addressed
...thinking about the future , like warnings about weak areas etc.
The Right Stuff is the ultimate perfect black silicone type sealant. I
wouldn't be without it, and never use anything else. Get it in the
grease gun style, not the aerosol .
