Yes, I want to remove both tie rods, not the ends, from the rack to make it more compact for shipping to France. The rack with the rods off is 32". Each rod is 12 inches , and going over 36 inches jumps the price considerably.(USPS Priority Mail.)I see the Bentlry shows a picture of some kind of tool fitting a notch with no step by step explanation.

I thought that the question was about removing the tie rod from the rack.

If I recall correctly, you just have to get the boot out of the way and then simply twist the tie rod and trust that the torque won't damage the rack.
