Thanks Dennis,

I had wondered about the adjustment at the throttle body before, while I was correcting the idle/WOT switch, so this stood out in RG37 in Bentley reading for the AT rebuild. Once I have the idle dialed in (right now i rely on the IAC and O2 sensor to keep it at 850rpm... had it done once before but I went nuts tweaking it on an empty tank and now it has to be redone) I will set the shift points and kickdown.

Oh, and I wouldn't exactly call it heavy, that acceleration. I'm bad at estimating grades, but it was fairly steep (~10%? no, i'll give up on that), and I maybe eased back just a bit on the throttle at 45 cuz that's the speed limit. Well, today is for curtains, and rereading rg 37. Well, I should try it all over again because I didn't even notice what the rpm's were...

Thanks again for all your help, Dennis. I'll set up a stepwise chart and figure this out...
