For all the work that goes into a WBX rebuild, it's worth the $20 ea for new tubes. Or, you can replace the failed ones later with $40 spring loaded tubes!

Pushrod metal itself was my first thought though I was leaning toward expansion/contraction (heat cycling) causing the tube to expand and crush the seal then contract and cause an even bigger oil leak.

Can one successfully anneal the push rod metal at bellows or would that mean "entering a world of pain" ?

(apologies to "The Dude". [movie reference] )

Neil.
