Re Frank's comment about the spacer and play.
I could be wrong ..
but I don't think his statement is correct.
this is how they seem to work to me ....
the rear bearings and spacer...
The design of the outer bearing with flat rollers allows some leeway
end-wise ...
Tightening the hell out of the big nut only compresses the spacer thing
so things don't come apart.
there is allowance in the outer bearing for a few thou this way or that way.
( I think the inner bearing is a captured ball bearing ..so 'fixed'
location wise . )
If the poster has in-out play that does not sound right.
if there is a tiny bit of up-down play ...a Tiny bit could be OK.
I find these bearings to be a bit tricky to get pressed into the bearing
housing exactly right.
Havn't done one for a few years, but I've done many, always successfully.
if anyone things my perceptions about spacer and play etc are bogus ..
fire away !
I just know what works for me, let's say. Done tons of 'em.
