i always dissuade young people from buying vanagons.. they have this delusion that they are cheap and easy to maintain, and their parents buy them a vw camper and they usually dont have the wherewithal or finances to keep them up and end up running them into the ground or having to sell them at the first problem that arises. no shops around here even work on vanagons anymore, and the VW specific shops have lost their old timer aircooled and vanagon mechanics and the young mechanics dont know how to work on anything that doesn't have OBD 2. i just tell the young retro-hippsters to get a toyota sienna and ziptie a vw emblem on the grille. |
