Does your subaru engine use a Mass Air Flow Sensor in the air intake or just a MAP sensor.

in the case of the former ...Mas Air Flow Sensor ( which is a big step over the quite crude Air Flow Meter like vanagon waterboxer engines use ) .....

This is a BRILLIANT device ! First ..No moving parts, no sweeper contacts ... the ECU just reads change in resistance of almost invisible tiny wires in the air flow inside the Mass Air Flow Sensor.

here is what is so great about it ..it's almost 'smart' . Since ....as the air flow in the device flows over the heated wires, cooing them...and the ecu reads that, it is able to respond to humility and barometric pressure differences of the air !

I'm trying to remember if Subaru has an IAT sensor of any sort.
