Glad you are enjoying your trip, Mark.

I spent some time in Brazil a few years back. Before I went, folks told me that Portuguese was just Spanish spoken badly, and Spanish was Portuguese spoken badly. I couldn't understand anything, but then inflection, speech mannerisms, accent make a great deal of difference. The fact that no one could understand me didn't surprise me at all, since most Spanish speakers can't understand my mangled Tex-Mex either.

I had a colleague from Argentina back in Texas. He had lived for a time in Pennsylvania. He said that he used to live in Argentina, and everyone spoke Spanish. Then he moved to Pennsylvania, and everyone spoke English. Then he moved to Texas, and no one spoke either language.
