Forgive me for not responding sooner. My eldest was in a motorcycle accident. Nothing like it to set ones life in chaos. He's home from icu. He'll b fine in about 6to8 weeks.  Now back to ur suggestions. Thank u alistar n brent. I'll check 'em out soon as the rain gives. I've since noticed what looks like a cracked trim ring, n meanwhile plastered door with blue tape to protect the paint. The coward in me is terrified what i find when i open it all up. Either way u can bet I'll b cryin out on the org for more help if need b. Meanwhile, should u c someone travelin the roads with bungy corded slider, that'll b me n my learnin curve. Ah for the love of a westy. Thanks again. In joy,Eve

You can get at it if you remove the door panel. It's a Phillips head machine screw, head obvious on the lock mechanism . Check it out, pop the door panel ( plastic spatula helps) , oh and unscrew the inner door handle first.
