Years ago i sold a really nice rustfree '79 westy std. to some young retro hippy college kid.. As usual he wanted something he could take to phish and rusted root shows etc.. Book smart kid but clueless about mechanicals... I gave him a quick crashcourse on the do's and dont's of aircooled engines and he seemed to take it in.. He ponied up the money and gave me what i wanted for it (actually his dad gave him the money) and as he drove off, i muttered to myself "poor westy he will run it into the ground in less than 6 months"

3 months later i got a call and he had blown the engine somewhere in NC and had to leave it down there and get back to school... He later called me and said he had it towed home and was now selling it to pay the towing fee cost from NC back to PA.. i should have bought it back cheap and thrown another motor in it.. oh well.
