It's a taper fit to the shaft, and a bugger to get off. Shops vibrate it
loose with an air chisel, or with careful application of flame and
hammering.
Check your voltages at the battery too to test the wiring. Output should be
decent at idle, but rev to 1000 rpm to see any difference.
