The brand tank that I used was MEYLE. Haven’t checked for combustion gases yet. I have replaced these tanks over a period of about 20,000 miles. Runs fine. No symptoms of bad head gasket. I guess I don’t fully understand the blue cap on the expansion tank—I would think that any excess in pressure in the expansion tank (gas or fluid) would be vented into the overflow tank.

Thanks

Have you checked for combustion gasses getting into the coolant? What brand of tanks are you getting?

I am on my 4th NEW coolant expansion tank in about a year. They leak at the seam. Any suggestions for a replacement? I have seen the metal tanks, that I am sure are bullet proof, but I do like the ability to check the coolant level in the expansion tank just by looking through the plastic.

Suggestions?
