I'm sure it will suffice.

I'd be the last person to every say I was really detail oriented, ;) but personally, I wouldn't bother adding sealant unless it's a Syncro. e.g. sometimes the TDC diagnostics sensor is missing on the 2.1 WBX and the hole it fits in is left wide open.

I recently futzed around with repairs to my '88 transaxle case. In part, repaired corrosion damage to area starter mounts to. I'd think that the corrosion would've happened regardless of sealant between starter and transaxle; corrosion was at outside edge of hole where starter fits.
