Sorry if I seem to have restated what Lloyd outlined. Was trying to emphasize that the bushings are one time use, and can be gotten at dealer.

The pin in the mud flap I reinstalled had 1/2" sticking out of the mud flap with a tip with a flat bladed screw driver slot in it, without groves. You would pull or unscrew the bushing from the pin and reinstall the bushing in the body sheet metal . Then loosen the 2 bolts and nuts on the mud flap to body , press in mud flap pins into body and bushings so the mud flap is flush against the body, then retighten the 2 bolts/nuts on the mud flap. The 2 bolts ( 8 or 10mm ) on the mud flap are the load bearing parts. The pins are more like part locators not structural as the mud flaps hang down low and stick out and pull off on rocks, curbing.. . Looks to me like the pins are designed to pull out before distorting and tearing the sheet metal. > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Stacy Schneider > Sent: Wednesday, July 27, 2016 7:09 AM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: OEM mudflap question > > Your assumptions are all correct .
