You will normally have to grind the lip of the oil pump cover where it
would hit against the aluminum mounting bracket. I usually just grind
about an 1/8th of an inch off of the lip on the lower three sides and that
gives it the clearance you need. The HD pump is physically thicker than
the stock so you need to do this or the mount will not install correctly.
I had an engine that had over 250k original miles and the owner installed
this pump at some point when the oil buzzer started going off. Definitely
helped with pressure (had a gauge) and the engine lasted to 300k before I
got nervous and pulled it to install a rebuilt one. Just didn't want to
travel with an engine that high of miles, but it still had good oil
pressure and was running well.
