i had a '90 tornado red carat wolfsburg that had steelies and  wheelcovers.
  the original owner was approached by someone with a '84  westy several
years after he bought the van in the early '90's and the guy  with the 84
westy offered him cash plus his steelies with brand new tires for  his alloys
with worn out tires..  the owner of the carat didn't care if he  had alloys or
not so he swapped them and was happy to not have to buy new  tires!!


that was back when the 14" carat alloys were a big deal.. now nobody wants
them .. everyone is running 15" or 16" alloys.
