Shift lever failure has become a fairly common problem on these vans.

Cheers,

Jeff

Hi all, I had a van come back with both a broken shift assembly(at the floor where the rod pivots/hemisphere at the base of the shift lever) as well as having the van dragged down the side of some fairly severe bushes. I know what it takes to rub the paint with bushes and I'd qualify it as being extreme and without care, but in 27 years I've never broken or seen any break the shift assembly at the floor. I am putting this out here for any knowledge of, or experience with, having broken one. Anything helps and it could be in favor of "the breaker" I just need a little feed back. Right now I feel pretty hostile regarding this client and I need to try give him the benefit of the doubt. BTW, neither of these events(damage) where mentioned when he dropped it off. Yes, I know, you should check it over on return etc etc. I do it, the shift assembly came as a surprise as I've never seen it happen and never check that aspect, until now. What does it take to break this?

Thank you,

-- Scott Quinnett www.dragonflyvans.com 406-552-2980 dragonflyvans@gmail.com
