Just did this same job, and a Craftsman Lock Ring Pliers worked like a charm: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=19378156&KPID=15216375&pla=pla_15216375

Note that if your CVs were previously replaced with aftermarket joints, there's a chance they instead use standard snap rings, which will require the pliers with the pair of pins to engage the small holes.
