Hardly scientific or accurate, but judging by feel, the OEM Dometic propeller seemed to move more air than the computer case fan I hand on hand. But for the fuss of finding a new motor to put that prop onto, a computer case fan seems to be the logical choice when the OEM fan fails. Some folks run two computer case rear fans and even build shrouds to help direct the air. If one built a shroud around the cooling fins, I'd suggest the rear fan(s) should be controlled by a switch and remain connected to the OEM thermal switch. My guess is that a shroud is a two fold affair; when the fan(s) is on, it will do a better job of directing air along the cooling fins but it would also confine that heat when fan(s) is off.

On one of my Domestics, I added a "city water" fan to pull air from behind the fridge to the outside. This fan was switched. I routinely turned it on when traveling in really hot weather.

Neil.
