I would suggest that in terms of fuel or fuel vapour flow, it doesn't matter if the hoses connecting to the bottom of the evaporative tanks are reversed. But then they might rub if criss crossing each other?

I had to double check with the Bentley manual, but the rear most hose at each expansion tank connects to each corresponding metal pipe on fuel tank. The remaining forward hose at each tank connects to the crossover pipe on tank.

If you had occasion to work with someone while viewing the Bentley manual, in my manual, the Digijet picture of fuel tank seems to best show those details.
