The original is a small lamp with a blue cover. You can replace it with a 12 volt LED. Note that it is common for high beam indicators to be dim so that they do not confuse the eye. Bright dash lighting or other sources of light inside the vehicle reduce your eyes sensitivity to light at a distance. If it is really really dim you may also have a problem with the foil or another circuit problem.

I'd like to do that. Mine is Dim with a capital D. I'll have my dash out and apart to fix the odometer and would like to upgrade that little blue light. Is the blue color from a filter that covers the hole and I can just put a bright white LED behind it? hoping... I assume the bulb is wired for 12V and I will need a resistor... what value?

Thanks for any advice! Edward
