Subject: Filling a 4 spd manual transmission
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8; format=flowed

Hi,

I know I read an article on the Internet within the last 2 weeks that stated the filling policy had changed... Of course, I can't find it now.

I believe that the original irections were to fill to the level of the filler hole.

I seem to remember reading that VW found this was causing too much aeration and the new recommendation was some depth below the filler hole.

How far below the filler hole should the oil level be on a 4 speed manual transaxle on a 1991 Westfalia?

Does anyone know exactly how much fluid the corresponds to? It would be nice to not get it "too full".

Thanks, Steve Williams
