Great info. I am also having my 87 westy repainted; originally Wolfram grey, as was the pop top. I will likely stay with grey, but have been concerned about painting the top a dark color due to it potentially being hotter in the sun.
Would prefer a grey top if there were some way to decrease its heat absorbance. Does anyone have experience with the ceramic paint additives that are meant to insulate paint (e.g., http://www.hytechsales.com/insulating_paint_additives.html)?
Alternatively, any nice pics of a grey westy with a lighter top?

I've had excellent results twice now having Wesco (https://wescopbe.com/store-locations/) do a computer match from the front underside of the top on the side flange or the back side of the luggage rack, which are protected from the sun and weather.

You can also choose the level of gloss you want, but the scanner will match the OEM gloss perfectly, which is actually semi-gloss, not high gloss. I prefer the OEM look over vans that have been repainted with a single clear coated color.
