It might work (according to that stackoverflow answer) for Gerry to set the
"from" header to something like "no-reply@gerry.vanagon.com". It already
sets the reply-to header correctly, so when you hit "reply" it will still
go to Stuart.
Gmail owns both ends of the transaction--they know that Stuart didn't
actually send that email--gerry.vanagon.com sent it. So it sees a "From: "
header in an email from gerry.vanagon.com, but it says From:
someone@gmail.com and says HEY WAIT A SEC *I'M* GMAIL! I WOULD KNOW IF I
SENT THAT--AND I DIDN'T!--SOMEONE MIGHT BE SCAMMING! ... I'd better warn my
users.
